# Are 10-m wind components instantaneous?

Are the OpenIFS variables for U10 and V10 (GRIB codes 165 and 166) instantaneous values?

Yes, they are instantaneous. Their full description can be found on the [ECMWF Grib parameter database](https://apps.ecmwf.int/codes/grib/param-db).&nbsp; Also the [OpenIFS model output page](https://confluence.ecmwf.int/display/OIFS/How+to+control+OpenIFS+output) lists all model variables, the accumulated ones are indicated.
