# New version 3.1 of Surface Albedo data and 4.1 of LAI/fAPAR data now available on CDS

We are pleased to announce that the new version 3.1 of the [Surface albedo 10-daily gridded data from 1981 to present](https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/datasets/satellite-albedo?tab=overview) dataset and the new version 4.1 of the [Leaf area index and fraction absorbed of photosynthetically active radiation 10-daily gridded data from 1981 to present](https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/datasets/satellite-lai-fapar?tab=overview) have been published on the Climate Data Store (CDS) on 18-11-2025.

The [Surface albedo](https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/datasets/satellite-albedo?tab=overview) v3.1 data covers the period July 2018-December 2024 and it is the operational version that replaces the previously available pre-operational V3. It includes:

- the latest available Sentinel-3 A/B SLSTR (Sea and Land Surface Temperature Radiometer) and OLCI (Ocean and Land Colour Instrument ) dataset
- more spectral albedo bands
- a higher spatial resolution compared to V2 and V1

The [LAI/fAPAR](https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/datasets/satellite-lai-fapar?tab=overview) v4.1 data covers the period July 2018-December 2024 and it is the operational version that replaces the previously available pre-operational V4.0. The version have been produced using data obtained from sensors onboard the Sentinel-3 satellites, specifically the OLCI and the SLSTR.
