# What is the data policy to use the Climate Data Store (CDS) datasets?

I would like to use CDS datasets; what licences apply to these data?

Copernicus data are provided free of charge to users. However, each dataset comes with a license which needs to be validated by the user (once) before any data can be downloaded. If a dataset has been funded by the&nbsp;**[Copernicus Climate Change Service](http://climate.copernicus.eu/)**&nbsp;(C3S), the dataset is provided under the&nbsp;**[Copernicus license](https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/api/v2/terms/static/20180314_Copernicus_License_V1.1.pdf)**, otherwise it will be made available under the originating centre license.
