I am learning how to use the ERA5 data set. I have downloaded the Single-Level Monthly Means for a number of variables. Link Here.
Having downloaded them as NetCDF and extracted them in R as I have done for other NetCDF data sets I find that for each lon/lat/month combination there are 12 different values. Looking within the documentation it is stated “For forecasts, steps between 1 and 12 hours have been used to provide data for all the validity times in each 24 hours” So would it be correct to say that these correspond to the average for every two hours in the month? And would it be correct to average out these values to obtain the monthly mean for my required variables?
