Corrupted files downloaded with cdsapi

I downloaded various files from the CIMP6 climate projections dataset with the cdsapi and all the files were corrupted, I can’t open them with python, panoply, cdo, nor xygrib.I can’t even open them as plain text files. Any help with that please.

Already solved. I did not understand that the files were zipped.
After unzipping the files everything worked fine
