Hello!
I am calculating daily mean wind speed values using the " ERA5 hourly data on single levels from 1940 to present" dataset. I am calculating the hourly value of wind speed on every grid point using the hourly u and v components, and then i find the daily mean on every point. Afterwards i average over the region of my interest (NUTS 2 level) in order to find the mean daily wind speed in that region.
When i compare my results with the wind speed variable from the " Climate and energy indicators for Europe from 1979 to present derived from reanalysis" dataset, the daily values are different.
Are there any extra steps that i have omitted in my calculations? Any help would be much appreciated!
