ERA4 hourly precipitation - discrepancy between GRIB and NETCDF

Issue Summary: Unexpected 12-Hour Intervals in ERA5 GRIB Format Instead of Hourly Data

When retrieving hourly data on ‘total_precipitation’ from the ERA5 dataset using the Copernicus Climate Data Store (CDS) API in GRIB format, the data appears at 12-hour intervals (06:00 and 18:00) instead of the expected hourly intervals (00:00 to 23:00). However, when downloading the same data in NetCDF format, the data shows up correctly at hourly intervals.

Hi,
this variable comes from the ‘forecast’ output of ERA5, started at 06:00 and 18:00 each day; see Table 0 of:ERA5: data documentation - Copernicus Knowledge Base - ECMWF Confluence Wiki
and ERA5 terminology: analysis and forecast; time and steps; instantaneous and accumulated and mean rates and min/max parameters - Copernicus Knowledge Base - ECMWF Confluence Wiki
