We are pleased to announce today, 2nd November 2022, the release of the back extension of the Thermal comfort indices derived from ERA5 reanalysis dataset also known as ERA5-HEAT.
Since its release in 2020, ERA5-HEAT has been used in a variety of applications at the interface between climate and health sciences across the globe.
With the back extension to 1940, ERA5-HEAT puts at disposal the longest ever historical reconstruction of human thermal stress conditions to date.
Providing more than 80 years of data, ERA5-HEAT is the first thermal stress reanalysis to offer the capacity to do so.
Documentation has been updated and the data is now available to download from the Climate Data Store (CDS) either interactively using the Download Data form or programmatically using the CDS API service. This dataset may also be used in the CDS Toolbox.
Please note that due to the transition to the new data centre in Bologna, Italy, the real-time updates to the ERA5-HEAT dataset version 1.1 was suspended at the end of October 2022. Real-time updates will resume again in the new year.
