is there a way I can get the maximum and minimum era5-land monthly 2m temperature withoit having to download month by month, year by year?
The regular ERA-5 Land monthly means dataset does not cover maximum or minimum temperature, only average temperature (AvgAvgT, t).
Instead, some limited maxT and minT monthly data already does exist, but is found in the “Gridded dataset underpinning the Copernicus Interactive Atlas” instead.
There is data for:
- Monthly record high and average afternoon daytime high temp (MaxMaxT txx, AvgMaxT tx)
- Monthly record low and average overnight low temp. (MinMinT tnn, AvgMinT tn)
But it is only a limited selection of data right now. The data only goes until December 2024 right now. January 2023 data was only posted in May 2025, 29 months behind after the fact. At the moment there is not data currently for record low daytime afternoon highs or record high nighttime lows (MinMaxT txn, MaxMinT tnx), and data currently covers 2m air temp only (no dewpoint yet, but if it is just 2m air temp that is needed, then that is all the data there is right now).
Hi,
you can also have a look at this CDS entry: ERA5-Land post-processed daily statistics from 1950 to present
Thanks
