We are excited to announce the ESiWACE3 Data compression hackathon. It is a great opportunity to explore which compression methods and compression error requirements work best to address the urgent problem of the exponentially growing size of model data while preserving important data properties.
The event brings together leading data compression teams and leading modelling groups working at the forefront of this challenge. Participants will work hands-on in interdisciplinary teams, using provided datasets or bringing their own data to test methods, define requirements, and build practical compression strategies.
