Dear C3S/ECMWF Support Team,

I am using the “Gridded dataset underpinning the Copernicus Interactive Climate Atlas” from the Climate Data Store for future climate projections.

I am interested in downloading SPEI at a 3-month accumulation period for CMIP6, specifically SSP2-4.5, for the 2015–2100 period. However, in the dataset download options, I only see “Monthly standardised precipitation-evapotranspiration index for 6 months cumulation period” listed as an available SPEI variable.

Could you please confirm whether SPEI-3 is available for this dataset, either through the CDS download interface or through the API? If SPEI-3 is not currently available?

Dear Ammara,

We have only SPI-6 and SPEI-6 in our C3S Atlas (dataset and viewer). The full list of Atlas variables is available at Gridded data underpinning the Copernicus Interactive Climate Atlas: Description of the datasets and variables - Copernicus Knowledge Base - ECMWF Confluence Wiki

Please note that in the C3S Atlas viewer ( Copernicus Interactive Climate Atlas ), you can also visualise severe wet and severe dry conditions, but they are also using the SPI-6 and SPEI-6 variables.

Unfortunately, we don’t have SPI-3 or SPEI-3.
