Hello Nastaran,

From the CDS you can download either grib or netcdf files, see the documentation What are GRIB files and how can I read them - Copernicus Knowledge Base - ECMWF Confluence Wiki.

In essence the data are 4-dimensional (3 space + time) but when downloading from the CDS single levels then this reduces to 3 dimensions (lat, lon, time).
