New CDS Application: Heat wave days for Europe derived from ERA5 reanalysis

We are pleased to announce the publication of a new application in the Climate Data Store (CDS): Heat wave days for Europe derived from ERA5 reanalysis

This application presents the number of days under heat wave conditions over a period between 1979- present (the last full year available). Heat waves, a prolonged period of extremely high temperature for a particular region, are extremely relevant from a public health perspective.

The application consists of a main application (Livemap) and a child app. The Livemap shows the European distribution of heatwaves for the selected definition and year. The user is able to pan, zoom and select a region – from national boundaries down to the NUTS 3 regional level (selected regions).

Documentation and source code are also available.
