We are pleased to announce that a new dataset has been published today, 19th October 2026, in the Climate Data Store (CDS):
This dataset of the Indicators of Global Climate Change (IGCC) is an annual, open assessment that tracks the key indicators of the state of the climate system and the human influence on it.
The indicators combine several origins: emission inventories, in situ and satellite observations (such as surface temperature, ocean heat content, sea level and sea surface temperature records), the ERA5 reanalysis, and established statistical and model-based methods used to estimate radiative forcing, to attribute the observed warming to human activity and to derive the remaining carbon budget.
The dataset contains the key indicators assessed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), bridging the gap between IPCC reporting cycles.
It is aimed at policymakers, scientists and the public who need authoritative, traceable estimates of how far and how fast the climate is changing, and of the human contribution to that change. It is intended to inform international climate policy and is an assessment built on existing records rather than a primary climate observation record.
You can download the data interactively using the dataset download form or programmatically with the CDS API: CDSAPI setup - Climate Data Store
The data are also visualised on the IGCC Dashboard.
