We are pleased to announce that the Sea ice drift daily gridded data derived from satellite observations dataset is now available on the Climate Data Store (CDS) on 06-11-2025:
This new dataset is produced by the EUMETSAT Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility (OSI SAF). It provides daily gridded fields of sea ice drift vectors for both hemispheres derived from atmospheric reanalysis data and brightness temperatures from the following satellite passive microwave :
- the Special Sensor Microwave/Imager (SSM/I; 1991–2006)
- the Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS; 2005 onward)
- the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer - Earth Observing System (AMSR-E) sensor (2002–2011) and its successor, AMSR2 (2012–2017)
