New datasets published in CDS: Global climate and energy indicators from 1950 to present derived from reanalysis

We are pleased to announce the publication of the new Global climate and energy indicators from 1950 to present derived from reanalysis, in the Climate Data Store (CDS) on 02 June 2026:

This dataset provides global climate and energy indicators at hourly and coarser temporal resolutions computed using a combination of physics-based and statistical models, selected according to data availability and the specific characteristics of each energy subsector.

For more details on the processing chain and methodology, please have a look at the documentation.

Users can download the data via the CDS webform or programmatically using the CDS API.

Note to users of the existing Climate and energy indicators for Europe from 1979 to present derived from reanalysis :
The Climate and energy indicators for Europe from 1979 to present derived from reanalysis dataset is now superseded by the new much improved global climate and energy indicators dataset published today. Consequently, we have planned to stop updating the Climate and energy indicators for Europe from 1979 to present derived from reanalysis on 1st July 2026 and subsequently deprecate it at the end of the year 2026. Users of the Climate and energy indicators for Europe from 1979 to present derived from reanalysis dataset are therefore invited to migrate to using the new Global climate and energy indicators from 1950 to present derived from reanalysis as soon as possible.
