New features released on the Data Stores

As part of our efforts to improve user experience, some new features have recently been released across all Data Stores (ADS, CDS, and EWDS). These include the following:

  • Option to opt-out/in for being contacted about Data Stores Service matters by ECMWF. By default users may be contacted (e.g. in case of system overuse impacting all users but also for surveys) until they opt-out. If you do not wish to be contacted, please update Your profile accordingly.

  • Request status names now in line with OGC standards and consistent on both the Data Stores web interface and API.

    • Accepted: for requests that have been accepted and queued for execution
    • Running: for requests that are being executed
    • Successful: for requests that have been successfully executed and are ready to download
    • Failed: for requests that have been executed but failed to produce an output. Useful tip: From Your requests page, you can check the reason for the failure of your request by following the link to “check error” and then “show error details”
  • Definition of request status names published (refer to help tooltip ())

  • Queue status - should you have several Accepted requests (i.e. queued for execution), some indication as to why your request may be waiting in the queue is now provided from My Requests page under “Check status”.

We would like to take this opportunity also to remind our API users the following:

To avoid disappointment, please ensure that you are using a supported version of Python i.e 3.10 or above (3.8 and 3.9 are no longer supported) along with the latest cdsapi package version available (currently 0.7.7).
