We are pleased to announce that the new version 3.0.0 of the Global land surface atmospheric variables from 1718 to present from comprehensive in-situ observations dataset has been published on the Climate Data Store (CDS) on 28-05-2026.
The new version includes:
- 3 billion additional observations,
- temporal coverage extended in the past to the year 1718
- most recent data now go until February 2026
The dataset provides observation-level data, as well as daily and monthly aggregations, for commonly observed variables, helping to support the development of reanalysis products, gridded products and data services.
This work is being carried out on behalf of the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) in collaboration with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Centers for Environmental Information.
