We are pleased to announce that the new version 3.0 of the Near surface meteorological variables from 1979 to 2019 derived from bias-corrected reanalysis (WFDE5) dataset and its new companion dataset (W5E5) have been published in a single Climate Data Store (CDS) entry on 15-05-2026.

Version 3.0 of WFDE5 extends coverage from 1979–2019 to 1979–2024. It provides hourly climate forcing data over land only.

W5E5 combines WFDE5 data over land with ERA5 over the ocean, providing daily, spatially complete coverage over land and ocean on a common 0.5° grid.
Together, they provide near-surface meteorological forcing data for land surface, hydrological and climate impact modelling, helping users access bias-corrected data derived from reanalysis in a comprehensive format.
