Problems with delayed CAMS global atmospheric composition forecasts in ADS

It’s currently 14:10 UTC and the CAMS global forecast dataset for today (18th May) is not yet available through the ADS. We expect the forecast to be available by 10:00 UTC each day, as it says on the documentation page, but our daily ADS downloads (11:00 UTC) have been failing since 12th May, i.e. since the recent upgrade. Is there a problem with CAMS global forecast production? Thanks

Hi Amy. Sorry about this. It turned out a piece of downstream software was not compatible with last week’s 50r1 upgrade of the global model which has meant we’re having to publish the global forecast in a slightly different way while we wait for it to be fixed. A side effect of that is a delay to the publication of around 2-3 hours. And then today a second issue and hopefully very temporary issue delayed things even further.

Sorry about all this. We hope to resume normal service soon!

Luke.

Thanks for the update Luke, that’s really helpful to know.

Thank you for your efforts in restoring the system.

Data delays are still ongoing. Could you please let us know how long it will take for things to return to normal?

We are currently using a temporary solution, but if there is no clear timeline, we would like to determine if our system needs to be modified to accommodate the delays.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Hi. It’s hard to give a definite timescale but we’re hoping to have a fix within a few days rather than a few weeks.

Luke.

Hi,
if you have time critical operation you can maybe have a look at this new service: CAMS Global atmospheric composition forecast now available through the ECMWF Product Requirements Catalogue and pre-schedule delivery

Thanks
