Seasonal forecast products delay

When I downloaded the data from the ECMWF Seasonal Forecast Product website, I noticed that today is already 7 July 2025, and ECMWF SEAS51’s seasonal forecast product for the month of July is available for download, but NCEP CFSv2, and JMA CPS3 haven’t been updated, and the most recent one is still on the 1st of June, so is this a normal delay?

Dear Hao,

Thanks for the question. Indeed, this is expected as while the ECMWF forecasts are released on the 6th of the month, the others are all released on the 10th. You can find this, and related information, in the documentation: Summary of available data - Copernicus Knowledge Base - ECMWF Confluence Wiki

Thanks,

Chris

Dear Chris,
I’m encountering an issue when trying to download the ECMWF seasonal forecast (System 51) from the Monthly statistics on single levels dataset, for total precipitation (ensemble mean or hindcast, year 2025, July, any leadtime). When I click the “Submit Form” button, I get an “invalid request” error. The same issue occurs when using the cdsapi.

Interestingly, the same problem occurred last month around the 6th–7th and resolved by the 8th. Could this be a recurring issue related to data availability or a backend update?

Thanks,
Rodrigo

Hi @Rodrigo_Cortes!

welcome to the ECMWF Users Forum.

In principle, this is not expected, but I have double-checked what you are reporting is actually happening, so I would suggest you record this as a “Charts and data” issue in the ECMWF support portal:

This would guarantee the right teams at ECMWF follow up on this issue. Please remember to include an example of the failing API request so our User Support colleagues can reproduce your issue, and it can be also helpful to send a link to this conversation.

Regards,

Edu

Thanks Eduardo! I just created the ticket in the ECMWF Support Portal.

Rodrigo
