Hi CDSAPI folks!

  1. I have accepted the 3 terms (see screen shot).

  2. Updated the .cdsapirc to the new format:

url: https://cds-beta.climate.copernicus.eu/api
key: {my-new-CDS-UserID-as-key}

  1. And I still get this response:

requests.exceptions.HTTPError: 403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://cds-beta.climate.copernicus.eu/api/retrieve/v1/processes/reanalysis-era5-single-levels/execution

required licences not accepted

required licences not accepted; please accept the following licences to proceed: [{‘id’: ‘licence-to-use-copernicus-products’, ‘revision’: 12}]

Please help!

I think i figured it out.

  1. Go to https://cds-beta.climate.copernicus.eu/index.php
  2. Datasets | Filter by something | Download tab | filter some more including sub-region so it is small
  3. Just before you download it will ask you about the license! It is beyond me why an API license would be here downloading without API. But it worked after that.

Which IMHO is still a bug.

Thanks a lot for posting, this would have taken me forever to figure out!
I agree that it seems weird why this would be the “solution”/would be necessary but it also worked for me this way.
