I am trying to download hourly era5 reanalysis data for each pressure level from 1980 to 2021 and it takes a lot of time to download data. it most goes into queue process which takes hours to process data for download. by this way, to download the data, it takes one year. I use different technique to handle this matter but all of them are useless. Is there any strategy to handle this issue?
I am wondering why the Copernicus servers are mostly handling requests from China. Ultimately that’s why we are all waiting, the ECMWF servers are overloaded with requests.
According to this page (choose any continent except Europe)
https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/live
China submitted 217,000 requests over the last 24h.
Germany - 12,000
US - 29,000.
Given that China does not pay for ECMWF funding, shouldn’t EC de-prioritize their requests? Or requests from all countries who don’t fund the organisation?
Also, did hundreds of separate people in China all request data? Or did one or two big universities / corporates create multiple accounts, which is against the T&C?
