Updated CDS application: Climatic suitability for the presence and seasonal activity of the Aedes albopictus mosquito for Europe derived from climate projections

,

A new application has been published in the Climate Data Store (CDS): Climatic suitability for the presence and seasonal activity of the Aedes albopictus mosquito for Europe derived from climate projections

This application supersedes the now deprecated "Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) survival suitability for European countries derived from climate projections" application.

The application presents the season length and a climate suitability index of the recent past and future climate scenarios for the presence of the Asian tiger mosquito (Aedes albopictus) across Europe.

Users can select either the season length or suitability index variable to visualise from the dropdown box. The livemap has five selectable layers: one for the historical period (1976-2005) and two future periods (2031-2060 and 2071-2100) simulated under two projections of future climate (RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5). The interactive livemap can be explored by zooming and panning around Europe.

Source code is also made available.
