We are pleased to announce that the Climate and energy related variables from the Pan-European Climate Database derived from reanalysis and climate projections (PECD) v4.2 has been updated on the Climate Data Store (CDS) on -11-2025.
The updates includes:
- Two new spatial aggregation levels: P2ON (Pan-European Onshore Zones 2) and P2OF (Pan-European Offshore Zones), supporting the ENTSO-E ERAA 2026 studies.
- Known issues addressed and documented:
- Wind power indicators (WON, WOF): inconsistencies at NUTS 0 caused by aggregation based on installed plant locations. Please note the NUTS 0 option has been removed from the form, and a Jupyter Notebook is available for users who wish to compute custom country-level aggregations. Please see documentation.
- BCC-CSM2-MR SSP2-4.5 future: corrupted 10 m and 100 m wind speed values affecting WON and WOF have been fixed and reprocessed.
- Temperature, radiation, and precipitation variables (TA, TAW, GHI, TP) for the historical period: aggregation errors affecting parts of the Middle East and North Africa have been corrected.
- A new widget called ‘File version’ on the download form. This was done to ensure consistency and simplify data access for reprocessed data. Please note: all the reprocessed data are included in PECD v4.2 File version 2 (fv2) as the previous version 1 (fv1) have been removed. Please use the webform to build your new API requests to download the corrected data.
- The Jupyter Book “Explore and Analyse PECDv4.2 Climate and energy Data”, which is a collection of notebooks used for an ENTSO-E training held in June-July 2025. Please see Training material in the documentation tab.
Please note: PECD v4.1 has been deprecated and it is no longer supported. Users are strongly advise to use v4.2. Moreover, as changes have been done to the webform (new API keywords available), previous API requests will fail, please use the webform to update the requests.
